CHMM and CHMP candidates need to be familiar with relevant laws and regulations, relevant scientific principles and their application, and best management practices. The exams are not based on any single reference, but the following resources are among those that may be helpful.

• Hazardous Materials Management Desk Reference (2nd Edition), published by the Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals (AHMP).

• CHMM Examination Study Guide™ self-study CD-Rom program available from the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE).

"LIVE" COURSES

• "Essentials of Hazardous Materials Management" course offered by the Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals (AHMP).
• Overview Classes and Courses offered at various universities or by AHMP chapters across the country.
• The Aarcher Institute offers complete and practical environmental training presented by a team of instructors that are practicing experts in the field and dedicated to environmental training.
• Professional Development Activities. These organizations conduct training, education, conferences, seminars, Webinars, and other types of learning opportunities that provide current CHMMs with Certification Maintenance Point (CMP) recertification credits, as well as provide good material for those studying for the CHMM or CHMP examinations.
