Study Courses, Materials, and Professional Development Resources
Candidates need to be familiar with relevant laws and regulations, relevant scientific principles and their application, and best management practices. Many candidates attend overview courses or rely on self-study materials to prepare for taking the examination. IHMM does not require any specific type of exam preparation or training and the exams are not based on any single reference. The following resources are among those that may be helpful and this information is provided for the convenience of candidates.

- Review materials and courses are optional, and candidates are not required to take an overview course in order to take the examination.

IHMM application and exam fees DO NOT cover any course fees. Contact the course provider for registration and cost information.

The Essentials of Hazardous Materials Management (EHMM) overview course developed by the Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals (AHMP) is primarily a refresher course, and does not cover all the material in the examination.

Registering for an overview course does not automatically make you eligible to take the CHMM exam.
